TrashKonsumer: TRANSCENDENT is a Filipino technical death metal band founded in 2006, hailing from Antipolo City, Philippines by founding members, Vocalist: Bryan Dy, Guitarist: Christian Mojica and Drummer: Steven Taburnal. After their former band called Nagraya (a brutal Death band) disbanded. The three members of the said band formed a new band, named Transcendent.
The three formed the core of transcendent, That time Christian Mojica was the only guitarist of the band. Guitarist, Wilbert Tonogbanua and Bassist, Francis Gonzalez were added to the band later. Thus completing the first official line up.They started covering songs from bands like DEATH, SCEPTIC, DYING FETUS.
Later on, Christian and Steven started to appreciate jazz music. During this time, the bands' influences were beginning to change. While they are still listening to different forms of Technical Metal music and began to enticed by the extreme degree of these forms of music. They began listening to jazz and more complex music like Bebop, Standards, Jazz Fusion, such as PAT METHENY, JOHN COLTRANE, ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, CHAD WACKERMAN, KING CRIMSON, TRIBAL TECH, MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, MILES DAVIS, SPYRO GYRA, ETC.. These are the jazz musician they admire most.
Later on, Wilbert Tonogbanua left the band to form a more aggressive death music band. years later, Wilbert died. In 2008, Jason Apostol, A former band mate of Steven and Christian decided to take over Wilbert's place. During this time, the band develop their musical and creative skills quickly. Since then, the band started creating their own music while covering songs from the band CYNIC, which became a great influence to them. Due to conflicts between band and work, Francis Gonzales decided to leave the band and started focusing on his family.
Still, the band continue to create their own craft, focusing in their upcoming EP. Several Line-up changes were made, and later on, Bassist Christian Igna of BRIMSTONE IN FIRE, join the band. With intuitive minds, active imaginations with passion and creativity, Transcendent is on the path, creating their own artform and will continue to go further towards what is yet to be seen. The band has erased their internet presence and is now assumed to be defunct.
